NEWS POST:-CBI withdraws ' 50 most wanted' list from website, says document being reviewed
NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday admitted to goofing up on its 'most wanted' list, that was to be handed over to Pakistan, and has now withdrawn the list from its website.
The investigating agency has also removed the Red Corner Notice linked to the list for the time being.
"The entire list is being reviewed. We have no plan to recall the list from Pakistan," Secretary, Internal Security in the Home Ministry, U K Bansal, told reporters.
While referring to the CBI's action to suspend and transfer some officials responsible for the goof up, he said responsibility has been fixed and action has been taken.
Bansal also said the home ministry would conduct an exercise to ensure that there is no such mistake in the future.
Earlier, CBI Director A P Singh has ordered a complete review of the Interpol wing and the most wanted list would be thoroughly scrutinised in consultation with state police and other agencies.
Feroz Rashid Khan named in India's most wanted list of terrorists allegedly hiding in Pakistan was found to be in Arthur Road Jail facing trial in the 1993 serial blasts case. Listed in the dossier as the criminal No 24 - Feroz - was shown as a wanted accused in the blasts case along with the absconding mafia don Dawood Ibrahim.
Earlier, the case of Wazhul Kamar Khan being in the list had also left the government red faced. Khan, who was arrested last year for his alleged role in the 2003 Mulund train blasts, lives inMumbai suburb Thane's Waghle Estate with his mother, wife and children, after being let off on bail.

New Delhi, May 11
A virtual blacklist of 50 most wanted terrorists, which includes hijackers, fugitives and even Pakistan army officers, has been handed over by New Delhi to Islamabad. The list has the names of men who have committed acts of terrorism in India in the past 20 years and are hiding in Pakistan or are being sheltered there.
The list was handed over to Pakistan in the last week of March at a meeting of the Home Secretaries. This list will add pressure on Pakistan as its role in sheltering slain Al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden stands exposed now.
Notably, the list is not exhaustive by any yardstick. It lists out leaders of the Laskhar-e-Toiba, Khalistani militants, Mumbai attackers, hijackers of Indian Airlines flight IC 814 in 1999, Dawood Ibrahim and his henchmen, and four former Pakistan army officers among others. Of these, 26 are Indians and many among them are involved in the 1993 Bombay blasts or are henchman of Dawood Ibrahim.
Interestingly, the list does not have two critical names : Omar Saeed Sheikh and Mushtaq Zargar, both of whom were released from a Jammu prison along with Maulana Masood Azhar in 1999 to save the lives of 150 passengers on board the hijacked Indian Airlines plane at Kandahar. Azhar’s name is on the list as the main accused in the Parliament House attack case. A case is pending with the Delhi police since 2004.
26/11 and LeT: The list starts with LeT chief Hafiz Saeed, alias Hafiz Sahib, who routinely spews venom against India. An Interpol red corner notice against him is pending since 2009. He is involved in the Mumbai terror attack case and also in the conspiracy to commit various terrorist acts in India. His LeT comrades Zaki-Ur Rehman Lakhvi and Abu Hamza are on the list. Red corner notices has been issued since 2009 and are wanted for the Mumbai attacks. LeT commander Azam Cheema is wanted for training Indian youth in PoK.Ex-army officers: Illyas Kashmiri, the rabidly anti-India man tipped to lead the Al-Qaida, has a red corner notice against him. He is involved in the conspiracy to commit various terror acts in India. He is former Special Service Group commando of the Pakistan army and now heads the self-styled 313 ‘brigade’ that is basically the Pakistan Taliban. Other former Pakistan army officers on the list are Major Iqbal, Major Sameer Ali and Sajid Majid, alias Sajid Mir. While Iqbal was the handler for David Coleman Headley, the man who surveyed targets in Mumbai, Ali and Mir are the main backers of terrorists and have planned other attacks.
Indian Airlines IC 814 hijacking case: This has six accused who are wanted for hijacking and also for killing passenger Rupin Katyal. A case is pending with the CBI since 2000. Ibrahim Athar, Azhar Yusuf, Mistri Zahur Ibrahim, alias Bhola, Sayeed Shahid Akhtar, alias Doctor, Shakir Mohammad, alias Ram Gopal Verma and Abdul Rauf.
Bombay blast case 1993: The case pending with the CBI against Dawood Ibrahim, Memon Ibrahim, alias Tiger Memon, Memon Ayub Abdul Razak, Anis Ibrahim Kaskar Shaikh, Anwar Ahmed Haji Jamal, Mohammed Ahmed Dosa and Javed Chikna all involved in the 1993 serial bombing in Mumbai.
Key Dawood gang members wanted in other terrorist cases: Chotta Shakeel, Salim Abdul Gani Gazi, Riyaz Abu Bakar Khatri, Munaf Abdul, Majid Halari, Mohammad Tainur, Khan Bashir Ahmed Ainul Haq Khan, Yakub Khan, Mohammad Shafi Memon, Irfan Ahmed Gulzar, Feroz Abdul Rashid Khan, Ishaq Atta Husain alias Ali Moosa, Sagir Sabir Ali Shaikh, Aftab Batki.
Punjab terrorists: Cases pending with the CBI and the Punjab Police against Wadhawa Singh, chief of the Babbar Khalsa International, for conspiracy to assassinate former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh and also for killing Punjab police officers in 1981; Ranjit Singh Neeta for bombing in Jammu; Paramjit Singh Panjwar, former chief of Khalistani Commando Force, and Lakhbir Singh Rode.
Other key figures on the list: Yousuf Salauddin has a CBI case pending since 1998. He is wanted for terrorist acts in India and criminal conspiracy to attack various installations. Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front founder Amanullah Khan. Rashid Abdullah, alias Abu Rehan, involved in 2008 Bangalore blasts. Syed Zabiuddin Jabi, who was involved in 2006 Aurangabad arms haul case. Sufiyan Mufti, prime accused in the Gujarat Home Minister Haren Pandya murder case. Nachan Akmal, Khan Wazhul Kamar and Chaneparambil Mohammed Bashir, all three accused in the 2003 Mulund railway station bombing in Mumbai.

MOTHER's DAY QUOTES
Ever wondered what are the opinions of great people like Abraham Lincoln or Washington Irving about mothers? What were their mothers like? What makes these mothers special? Read these quotes and find out.
- Charlotte Gray
Becoming a mother makes you the mother of all children. From now on each wounded, abandoned, frightened child is yours. You live in the suffering mothers of every race and creed and weep with them. You long to comfort all who are desolate. - George Eliot
A mother's yearning feels the presence of the cherished child even in the degraded man. - Napoleon Bonaparte
Let France have good mothers, and she will have good sons. - Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Women know the way to rear up children (to be just). They know a simple, merry, tender knack of tying sashes, fitting baby-shoes, and stringing pretty words that make no sense. And kissing full sense into empty words. - Elizabeth Stone
Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body. - Aristotle
Mothers are fonder than fathers of their children because they are more certain they are their own. - Aeschylus
On me the tempest falls. It does not make me tremble. O holy Mother Earth, O air and sun, behold me. I am wronged. - Washington Irving
A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. - Abraham Lincoln
All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother. - Henry Ward Beecher
The mother's heart is the child's schoolroom. - George Washington
My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute all my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her. - James Russell Lowell
That best academy, a mother's knee.

Today is Mother's Day
A Celebration In Honor of All Mothers
| ||
Mother's Day is a time of commemoration and celebration for Mom. It is a time of breakfast in bed, family gatherings, and crayon scribbled "I Love You".
This song by Indian singer, Kailash Kher, is dedicated to all Mothers of the World! Beautiful Song - 'I Love You Mom'!
History
The first celebrations in honour of mothers were held in the spring in ancient Greece. They paid tribute to Rhea, the Mother of the Gods. During the 17th century, England honored mothers on "Mothering Sunday," celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent.
In the United States, Julia Ward Howe suggested the idea of Mother's Day in 1872. Howe, who wrote the words to the Battle Hymn of the Republic, saw Mother's Day as being dedicated to peace.
Anna Jarvis of Philadelphia is credited with bringing about the official observance of Mother's Day. Her campaign to establish such a holiday began as a remembrance of her mother, who died in 1905 and who had, in the late 19th century, tried to establish "Mother's Friendship Days" as a way to heal the scars of the Civil War.
Two years after her mother died, Jarvis held a ceremony in Grafton, W. Va., to honor her. She was so moved by the proceedings that she began a massive campaign to adopt a formal holiday honoring mothers. In 1910, West Virginia became the first state to recognize Mother's Day. A year later, nearly every state officially marked the day. In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson officially proclaimed Mother's Day as a national holiday to be held on the second Sunday of May.
But Jarvis' accomplishment soon turned bitter for her. Enraged by the commercialisation of the holiday, she filed a lawsuit to stop a 1923 Mother's Day festival and was even arrested for disturbing the peace at a war mothers' convention where women sold white carnations -- Jarvis' symbol for mothers -- to raise money. "This is not what I intended," Jarvis said. "I wanted it to be a day of sentiment, not profit!"
When she died in 1948, at age 84, Jarvis had become a woman of great ironies. Never a mother herself, her maternal fortune dissipated by her efforts to stop the commercialisation of the holiday she had founded, Jarvis told a reporter shortly before her death that she was sorry she had ever started Mother's Day. She spoke these words in a nursing home where every Mother's Day her room had been filled with cards from all over the world.
Today, because and despite Jarvis' efforts, many celebrations of Mother's Days are held throughout the world. Although they do not all fall at the same time, such countries as Denmark, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Australia and Belgium also celebrate Mother's Day on the same day as the United States.
Basic Facts And Beginnings:
The second Sunday in May is observed as Mother's Day in most countries of the world. But it was not always so. Not very long ago, a festival called 'Mothering Sunday' or 'Mid-Lent Sunday' was celebrated in England on the fourth Sunday in Lent. The celebrations were surprisingly similar to the modern way of celebratingMother's Day.
The First Mother's Day, as we know it now days, was observed on May 10, 1908, in a church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The celebrations involved a church service in honor of Mrs. Anna Reese Jarvis, mother of Anna Jarvis.
Four years later, the Mother's Day International Association was created, on December 12, 1912, to spread the concept and practice of observing Mother's Day. The very next year, in May 1913, the House of Representatives of the US government adopted a resolution requesting the President, his Cabinet, members of Congress, and all officials of the federal government to wear a white carnation on Mother's Day.
And finally, on May 8, 1914, the Congress passed a Joint Resolution designating the second Sunday in May asMother's Day.
Mother's Day In India
The practice of celebrating the Mother is not alien to India. For thousands of years Hindus have been celebrating a ten-day festival, Durga Puja, honouring the divine mother Durga, in early October. But the more personal festival of 'Mother's Day' has also come to become a part of our culture now. What it offers is an opportunity to honor and show our appreciation for our flesh and blood mother - the one person who has stood by us through thick and thin.
Hindu scripture credits the Great Mother, Kali Ma, with the invention of writing through alphabets, pictographs and beautiful sacred images.
Buddha honoured mothers when he said, "As a mother, even at the risk of her own life, loves and protects her child, so let a man cultivate love without measure toward the whole world."
In India there is a ten-day festival known as Durga Puja, which is held in early October. The festival honors Durga, the "Divine Mother". She is the most important of all Hindu goddesses.
However, in India, Mother's Day is observed mostly in cities, where people are more in contact with cultural traditions of the rest of the world.
What You Can Do On Mother's Day !
Given below are a few tips to express your love and appreciation for your mother-
- Visit or call your mother and surprise her by telling her you still remember how she used to care for you.
- Remember to illustrate your point with reminiscences of your childhood.
- Send her a card or flowers with a poem specially written for her (never mind if it is not perfect).
- Take her out to dinner or cook for her.
- Take her out for a dance, and tell her she is your first girlfriend and the first woman in your life.
- Wear a red carnation with a smile.
- Surprise her by making breakfast this Sunday.
- Think of any one woman, other than your own mother, who has been a mother figure to you, and surprise her by visiting her with a box of chocolates.
Significance of Carnations
When the first Mother's Day was observed at the request of Anna Jarvis in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on May 10, 1908, carnations were supplied at the church service. This was because carnations were her mother's favorite flowers.
Thereafter, carnations have come to be associated with Mother's Day. White carnations are supposed to represented purity and love. Now it has become a tradition to regard red carnations as a symbol of a living mother; white carnations on the other hand are offered if one's mother has died.
